Behind the Greens: Promoting the 2024 Presidents Cup Tournament

As the spring golf season tees off, we look back on our production with the PGA last fall — capturing content to promote the highly anticipated 2024 Presidents Cup Tournament in Montreal.

Black Box Productions had the honour of partnering with the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) to film a series of promotional interviews at The Royal Montreal Golf Club. Featured subjects included US captain Jim Furyk, International captain Mike Weir, and Canadian NHL player Nick Suzuki — content used across traditional and social media to build excitement around the tournament.

The Approach

Set against the picturesque backdrop of The Royal Montreal Golf Club, we highlighted the personalities of the key figures involved. These interviews offer fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse into the Presidents Cup, bridging a closer connection to the players, captains, and other influential figures in the golfing community.

The Equipment

Our filming setup included two Red cameras: a Red Komodo 6K S35 and the powerful Red Raptor. To enhance our setup, we used advanced lighting gear including ARRI Skypanel S60s and Aputure Lightstorm 600 and 300x fixtures — providing high colour accuracy, consistency, and flexibility in adjusting colour temperature and intensity.

Our Role

In this project, we served as the go-to production service provider for the PGA Tour's internal production team. Our expertise ensured seamless technical execution, matching their required specifications, and providing the necessary crew and equipment for the international client. While the creative direction was established by the client, we focused on the technical details — making sure that the footage captured met their high standards.
