Interview & B-Roll Video Production

Authentic interviews paired with cinematic B-roll — the foundation of every great branded story. Whether it's a CEO message, customer testimonial, or documentary-style brand piece, we capture the moments and the visuals that make your message land.

Interview and B-roll production for brands, agencies, and organizations that need real people, real environments, and real stories captured with confidence and care.

Black Box Productions creates interview-driven video content that helps organizations communicate through the voices of the people behind the brand. Whether the subject is an executive, founder, customer, employee, partner, or expert, the goal is not simply to record answers. It is to create a setting where people can speak naturally, express ideas clearly, and feel confident on camera.

Strong interview content depends on more than lighting, sound, and framing. It depends on trust. People need to feel guided, not pressured. They need to understand what is being asked, why it matters, and how to deliver their thoughts in a way that feels honest rather than rehearsed.

That is where Black Box Productions brings real value.

We help turn interviews, environments, and supporting footage into polished video content that feels human, structured, and emotionally engaging.

Interview-Led Storytelling

Some of the strongest brand stories are not built from scripted claims. They come from the people who have lived the experience.

  • A founder explaining the reason behind a company.
  • An executive speaking with conviction about a shift in direction.
  • An employee describing what the company culture feels like.
  • A customer explaining the problem they faced and what changed after working with the brand.

These moments can carry more weight than traditional marketing language because they feel personal and specific.

Black Box Productions approaches interviews with an editorial eye. We look for the ideas, emotions, details, and turning points that can shape a stronger story. In depth interviews may capture hours of conversation, multiple perspectives, and scattered soundbites. Our job is to find the throughline and build it into a clear narrative arc.

That means shaping interviews into content that feels cohesive. It means finding the right opening, the right emotional beats, the right supporting visuals, and the right ending. It means making the message clear without stripping away the human quality that makes the story worth watching.

Helping People Feel Comfortable on Camera

Most people are not trained to be on camera. Executives, employees, clients, and subject matter experts may know their work deeply, but that does not always mean they feel natural once the lights, cameras, and crew are in place.

Black Box Productions understands how to guide people through that process.

We create an environment that helps interview subjects relax, gather their thoughts, and speak in a way that feels like themselves. Some people need direction to simplify complex ideas. Others need help slowing down, sounding less scripted, or finding a more conversational tone. Some need reassurance that they do not need to perform. They just need to communicate clearly.

This is especially important for corporate, recruitment, testimonial, and thought leadership content, where authenticity matters. A stiff interview can make even a strong message feel distant. A natural interview can create trust quickly.

Even subjects who are uncomfortable on camera can often be guided into calm, confident, and believable performances when the process is handled properly.

Purposeful B-Roll That Supports the Story

B-roll is not just filler footage between interview cuts. It gives the story its setting, movement, rhythm, and visual context.

The right B-roll helps the audience understand where the story takes place, who is involved, what the work looks like, and why it matters. It can show process, environment, emotion, scale, culture, product details, team interaction, customer experience, or behind-the-scenes moments that would be difficult to communicate through words alone.

Black Box Productions captures B-roll with the final edit in mind. We consider how each shot may support the interview, create pacing, clarify meaning, or add visual texture to the story.

  • For a corporate brand video, that may mean showing the people and spaces behind the organization.
  • For a recruitment campaign, it may mean capturing the energy of the workplace and the interactions that reveal culture.
  • For a case study, it may mean showing the client environment, product use, or operational details that make the story more credible.
  • For a documentary-style piece, it may mean capturing moments that unfold naturally rather than feeling staged.

The result is interview content that does not rely only on talking heads. It becomes more immersive, more cinematic, and easier to watch.

What Interview & B-Roll Production Can Support

Interview and B-roll production can be used across a wide range of branded, corporate, and documentary-style content, including:

  • Corporate brand videos
  • Customer case studies
  • Recruitment and employer branding campaigns
  • Executive messaging
  • Thought leadership content
  • Documentary-style stories
  • Internal communications
  • Event recap videos
  • Testimonials and client stories
  • Culture videos
  • Training and educational content
  • Sales and presentation materials
  • News and broadcast journalism
  • Electronic Press Kits

A single production can often support multiple versions of content. One interview day may produce a main brand film, shorter social cutdowns, internal clips, website content, recruitment assets, and thought leadership excerpts.

When planned well, interview and B-roll content becomes a reusable library of human, credible, and visually polished material.

Our Approach

Every interview production begins with understanding the story.

Before filming, we look at the objective of the piece, the audience, the role of each interview subject, and the type of final content the footage needs to support. From there, we shape the interview direction, plan the production environment, and identify the B-roll needed to bring the story to life.

On set, we focus on creating a calm and professional experience. The technical quality matters, but so does the energy in the room. People give better interviews when they feel prepared, respected, and properly guided.

We pay attention to the details that affect both performance and final quality: how the subject is framed, how the questions are asked, how the room looks, how the pacing develops, and how the visual coverage will work in the edit.

After filming, the story continues in post-production. This is where interviews are shaped into structure. Strong answers are selected, ideas are arranged, pauses are refined, B-roll is layered in, and the full piece is built into something clear, emotionally engaging, and useful across platforms.

Post-Production and Narrative Shaping

Unscripted interview videos come together in the edit.

The strongest moments are not always obvious during filming. Sometimes the best line comes halfway through a longer answer. Sometimes the emotional center of the piece only becomes clear once multiple interviews are reviewed together. Sometimes a story becomes stronger when the structure is rebuilt around a single idea, phrase, or turning point.

We organize interviews, shape the narrative, build pacing, integrate B-roll, refine sound, apply color, add graphics where needed, and prepare deliverables for the platforms where the content will live.

The goal is not only to make the footage look polished. It is to make the story feel clear, intentional, and worth watching.

Our Work

Cirque Du Soleil

Cirque du Soleil partnered with Black Box Productions to create a cinematic case study film showing how Epson projection technology helped bring ALIZÉ to life, Cirque du Soleil’s first non-touring European production. Rather than treating the project as a standard corporate case study, Black Box built the film around the idea that advanced projection does not replace magic, it makes it believable. Through in-depth interviews, a controlled studio environment, projected visuals, atmospheric lighting, AI-assisted motion design, and a custom Epson x Cirque du Soleil logo animation, the film translated technical capability into creative impact. Working across multiple teams and cities, Black Box shaped the story early, protected the illusion behind the live performance, and delivered a polished narrative that aligned with both Cirque du Soleil’s standard of wonder and Epson’s position as a technology partner for large-scale immersive entertainment.

Dexcom x Max Domi

As a global leader in continuous glucose monitoring, Dexcom partnered with NHL player Max Domi to deliver a powerful awareness campaign for the Dexcom G6. Black Box Productions produced a studio-shot series of four meticulously scripted videos, each highlighting a key product benefit such as continuous glucose monitoring and zero finger sticks. Filmed in a single day with branded props, detailed art direction, and both video and photography capture, the production achieved the polish and energy needed for high-visibility broadcast and digital placement, including NHL game broadcasts. The campaign reached over 8 million impressions, strengthening brand visibility and showcasing the impact of athlete-driven storytelling.

Tilray

1 / 4

Tilray, a global leader in cannabis research, cultivation, and distribution, partnered with Black Box Productions to create a series of six videos designed to educate internal stakeholders about Canada’s diverse cannabis users. Each video profiled a different persona, blending scripted content with a documentary-style approach to capture authentic perspectives and usage patterns. Directed and filmed by Black Box, the series delivered an engaging, human-centered view of consumer behavior, helping Tilray deepen its understanding of the market while reinforcing its position at the forefront of cannabis innovation.

Sports Illustrated

Sports Illustrated tapped Black Box Productions to help honour Laurent Duvernay-Tardif as its Sportsperson of the Year, recognizing his rare dual legacy as both a Super Bowl–winning Kansas City Chiefs lineman and a frontline medical professional during the COVID-19 pandemic. The five-minute editorial profile combined a multi-camera interview filmed in his Montréal home with intimate training B-roll and carefully curated archival footage. This documentary-style piece distilled his athletic discipline and humanitarian commitment into a compelling, emotionally grounded narrative. The finished video premiered on Sports Illustrated’s website, was showcased at the awards gala, and reached a wide public audience.

Foodarom

TBD Media Group, a UK-based media company known for business-focused thought leadership content, commissioned BBP to provide Canadian production services for Foodarom: Demystifying the World of Flavors, a corporate video profile on Montreal-area custom flavour designer and manufacturer Foodarom. Filmed at Foodarom’s offices and facilities, the project combined documentary-style interviews with leadership and food science experts, supported by cinematic B-roll capturing the company’s labs, flavour development process, and sensory education approach. With a nimble three-person local crew providing DOP, sound, and PA support, BBP helped bring TBD Media’s vision to life through a polished brand profile exploring flavour innovation, formulation expertise, and the future of taste.

Ubisoft

Ubisoft, one of the world’s leading video game publishers behind global franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Just Dance, hired Black Box Productions to produce a recruitment video designed to attract top talent and showcase the company’s culture. Through interviews with five employees, the piece demonstrated how personal passions translate into creativity and innovation at Ubisoft, positioning the studio as a place where careers are fueled by purpose. Used as a top-of-funnel asset to build awareness and interest among potential applicants, the campaign was supported by additional videos detailing specific roles and technical requirements, creating a comprehensive suite of content that strengthened Ubisoft’s hiring efforts and reinforced its reputation as a destination for world-class game development talent.

Why Black Box Productions

With 15+ years of experience producing branded content, corporate storytelling, documentaries, recruitment campaigns, and commercial video for global brands, Black Box Productions understands how to capture people in a way that feels natural, credible, and visually strong.

Our strength is not only in filming interviews. It is in helping people communicate well on camera, identifying the story inside the conversation, and shaping that material into content that supports real communication goals.

We know how to work with executives, employees, celebrities, customers, founders, athletes, partners, and subject matter experts who may not be used to being filmed. We understand how to create comfort without losing professionalism, how to capture polished visuals without making the moment feel overproduced, and how to turn real conversations into structured stories.

For organizations that need interview-driven content with emotional clarity, cinematic quality, and long-term usefulness, Black Box Productions provides both the production discipline and the storytelling judgment needed to make the final piece work.

Need Interview & B-Roll Video Content?

Interview and B-roll production helps organizations communicate through real people, real environments, and real experiences. Done well, it builds trust faster than scripted marketing language because the message comes from people the audience can see, hear, and believe. A strong interview video does more than record someone speaking on camera. It shapes ideas, helps people sound natural and confident, and adds visual context through purposeful B-roll to turn expertise and lived experience into a story audiences can follow.

When planned properly, a single interview and B-roll production can support websites, social media, recruitment campaigns, sales materials, thought leadership, internal communications, event content, and long-term brand storytelling. Black Box Productions creates interview and B-roll videos that help organizations communicate with clarity, credibility, and human connection.
