Black Box Productions co-produced Slow Dance, a short film directed by Joe Cobden and funded by BravoFACT — the Bravo! channel's program dedicated to funding and distributing original Canadian short films.
BravoFACT (Film and Art Creators in Training) was one of Canada's foremost funding bodies for short dramatic and experimental film. To receive BravoFACT backing was both a creative validation and a distribution platform: selected films aired on Bravo! and reached audiences across the country who might otherwise never discover independent short filmmaking.
Slow Dance is a testament to the power of focused collaboration. Working with a writer-director of Joe Cobden's calibre — an actor and filmmaker with deep roots in both stage and screen — Black Box Productions brought production discipline and cinematic craft to a project built around character, rhythm, and emotional nuance.
The film exemplifies what Black Box Productions has always believed: that great short-form storytelling demands the same level of craft, intention, and visual intelligence as any larger production. There are no shortcuts in cinema, regardless of runtime or budget.
